Celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten

We can hardly believe it — we are about to celebrate 100 days of Kindergarten! What an exciting milestone! In just a short time, our class has learned, grown, made new friends, and become 100 days smarter. We are so proud of all the progress the children have made.

To celebrate this special achievement, we will be having our 100th Day Celebration on Thursday, February 26th.

As part of the fun, all Kindergarteners are encouraged to dress up like they are 100 years old! We can’t wait to see our classroom filled with “100-year-old” students — complete with gray hair, glasses, suspenders, shawls, canes, house coats, slippers, and lots of creativity! This is always a favorite activity and brings so many smiles and laughs.

Throughout the day, we’ll be enjoying special 100-themed activities, games, and learning experiences to mark the occasion. It will be a fun and memorable way to celebrate how much we’ve accomplished together.

Valentine`s Day Party

Valentine’s Day is around the corner! Our class will be celebrating this special friendship day with a party and card exchange. Children are encouraged to show their school spirit and wear red and pink clothes to school on Friday, February 13th. Please pack a treat for your child to eat during the party.

There are 19 students. If your family chooses to participate in the card exchange, please bring enough for everyone in the class.

To save on time, please have your child write their name near “from” and leave “to” blank. This will make it so much easier to pass the cards out.

The Kinders and I are looking forward to the fun-filled day.

Winter Concert

Kindergarten children will be performing in the winter concert this Thursday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m.  at the Louis Riel Arts and Technology Center ATC. The address is 5 DeBourmont Avenue.

Please bring your child to room 201 between 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Immediately after the performance, children must be picked up by the side of the stage, and they will enjoy the rest of the concert with you. If your child is not attending, please let me know.

For the performance, we invite children to “dress their best.” There’s no need to buy anything new, whatever feels special and comfortable for your child is perfect!

Parent Teacher Conferences

I am looking forward to meeting with each of you to celebrate your child’s learning on Tuesday, November 25th. Every family has a scheduled 15-minute time slot to discuss your child’s report card and celebrate their learning. Please arrive on time for your appointment; if you arrive late, your meeting will still end at the scheduled time. If the classroom door is closed, kindly wait in the hallway until it opens.

I can’t wait to see all the Kinder families soon!

Halloween Candy

We have been discussing the importance of making healthy food choices and how these choices can impact our ability to learn effectively. When we eat a lot of sugar, it can make it challenging for us to concentrate and perform at our best. With Halloween drawing near, we’ve talked about keeping sweet treats at home. Candy is a sometimes food best to be eaten after school.

Should any Halloween candy find its way into their lunchbox or backpack, it will be sent back home, still sealed and unopened.

Halloween Fun at School

On Friday, October 31st, children are welcome to come to school already dressed in their Halloween costume or in fun Halloween colors like orange, black, or purple. Dressing up is completely optional—no pressure at all!

To help keep everyone safe and comfortable, please remember:

  • Children should arrive at school in their costume (there won’t be time to change at school)

  • No masks or toy weapons (like swords or guns)

  • Costumes should be school-appropriate and respectful of everyone

We’re looking forward to a fun and festive day together!

Fall into Independence

Hello Kindergarten Families!

It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through October! As the weather starts to cool down, we’re spending more time practicing important life skills in Kindergarten—especially getting dressed independently.

We would love your support at home in helping your child practice putting on their outdoor gear. This includes things like hats, mittens, zipping up jackets, and buttoning coats. A little extra practice at home can make a big difference in building their confidence and independence at school!

Thanks so much for your support!
